WELCOME TO CHARCOAL
Charcoal is a small catering company made up of a team of like-minded passionate foodies, run by chef James Horrigan.
James is a local boy that has had a love for food for as long as he can remember. His early culinary career saw him heading up the kitchens of some of Westons best restaurants from 'The Thatch' to 'The Commodore Hotel'. But his dream was to one day run his own catering company that would specialise in delicious smoked and barbecued foods using only locally sourced meats from the Somerset area. And so Charcoal was born.
All the meats he uses are locally sourced, and are all free range and GM free. They are then cooked and smoked the old fashioned way over coals and lovingly prepared using a variety of homemade rubs and sauces.

Bacon & Cheese Burger
6oz ground steak burger, maple syrup glazed bacon and smoked Monterey Jack cheese, served in a brioche bun with
lettuce, red onion and mayo.
Chicken Club Burger
Smoked chicken breast, finished on the barbecue with smoky bacon, served in a brioche bun with homemade slaw and chipotle mayonnaise.
Barbecued halloumi slices served with crunchy homemade slaw, served in a brioche bun with fresh salad and chilli sauce.
The Holy Cow
Two 6oz ground steak burgers, bourbon infused bacon, smoked jalapeno cheese served in a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and mayo.
SOME OLD FAVOURITES
Here's a small selection of some of the other bits that we get excited about cooking.
After a year of battling the elements in a gazebo, we quickly decided that we needed something a little bit more sturdy and mobile to flaunt our wares from. So after a lot of searching, we settled on a good old VW LT35 for the task ahead.
We stripped it back, rebuilt it and custom made the sliding door to be full height so we could stand up and serve. Then we sprayed it charcoal black, added the logo decals and fully kitted it out with a custom made kitchen. Boom! She's a beauty.

We love to barbecue the old fashioned way, over hot coals. Hence our name. And when we smoke our meats low and slow, they are all smoked with freshly chopped cherry wood from the local area.
